CT Weather: Florence Remnants May Bring Severe Weather Today
We all knew about the heavy rain forecast for today but now there are growing concerns about some severe weather too.

The remnants of Hurricane Florence arrived in Connecticut late last night and we already knew that it would be dumping inches of rain on the state today, but now there is also a concern for severe weather including strong thunderstorms this afternoon. There is also a slim chance that a tornado could pop up too.
A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for today for Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties. A Hazardous Weather Outlook is in effect for all of Southern Connecticut.

Showers and thunderstorms will produce periods of heavy rain today. Rainfall rates in excess of one inch per hour will be possible at times, with storm total rainfall ranging from 1 to 2 inches with locally higher amounts. Areas of minor flooding are likely. There is also an isolated flash flood threat where the heaviest rainfall occurs.

Bands of torrential rain showers are expected to develop across northern Massachusetts then gradually shift south through the afternoon, before moving offshore tonight. Widespread rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are anticipated, heaviest across northern Massachusetts where locally higher amounts are possible.
The location of the heaviest rain still remains somewhat uncertain, but latest indications are that northern
Massachusetts may be in the axis of maximum rainfall. The potential for 2 to 3 inch per hour rainfall rates exists. Both small stream and urban flash flooding remains possible."

Stormy weather for Tuesday and Changes Moves In For Wednesday
The National Weather Service says, "The remnants of Florence will track through the Tri-State Region today, and out to sea tonight. The system will produce periods of heavy rain, along with some embedded thunderstorms. The activity will taper off late this afternoon and evening from northwest to southeast, with some drier air filtering in overnight. Temperatures today will be steamy, with highs in the 70s and 80s along with high humidity.
Winds will veer to the northeast on Wednesday. A subtle backdoor front may spark an isolated sprinkle or shower, but otherwise it will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds. High temperatures are still expected to be a few degrees above average, despite the relatively cooler airmass."
