Forecasters Eyeing Potential Weekend Nor'easter: CT Weather
A strong storm is predicted to form this week and may have significant impacts for Connecticut this weekend. Here are the updated details.

Spring, summer and now fall? It looks like Connecticut may not get a break this fall from Mother Nature. A potential Nor'easter is possible this coming weekend. We could see heavy rain, strong winds and some flooding concerns, according to The Weather Channel.
However, The Weather Channel also says it is possible this powerful storm could stay offshore and that would diminish any impacts we would see. Weather experts say we'll know more about the storm's track in the next few days.
It's definitely been an active weather period in Connecticut. Since May Connecticut has seen an unprecedented number of confirmed tornadoes in communities including Southbury, Oxford, Hamden, Woodstock, Winsted, Ashford, Barkhamsted, and recently in New Canaan and Mansfield. A macroburst was also confirmed in New Milford and Brookfield in May.

Before we get to this weekend, temps will be chilly this week, ranging 5 to 15 degrees below where they normally are for this time of year. Some places in New England may even see some snow this week, but not us here in Connecticut.
Here is why Connecticut may see a nor'easter this weekend

"With another sharp, southward plunge of the jet stream arriving in the East by late week, a nor'easter may develop and threaten the East Coast this weekend," The Weather Channel says Monday. "Upper-level energy pivoting through the jet stream will trigger the development of low pressure near or off the East Coast in the timeframe from Friday into this weekend. The large-scale jet stream pattern that is forecast to develop is one we typically watch for spawning East Coast storms in the fall, winter and early spring, but as usual this far out, there is still uncertainty."
If the Nor'easter does occur, we might see its impacts as early as Saturday including "rain, gusty winds and coastal flooding this weekend." (To sign up for free, local breaking news alerts from more than 100 Connecticut communities, click here.)
We are still expecting a big ocean storm to form next weekend. The timing and placement is still in question (this is just one of MANY possible solutions you see here). We're watching it for SNE rain/wind impacts. #NBCCT @nbcconnecticut https://t.co/wVvfksTfOB pic.twitter.com/AFvLuckx1G

Coastal storm approaches Southern New England this week. We've been talking about it for days! Thankfully, it doesn't look too intense but a period of rain and wind seems like a good bet. pic.twitter.com/Yw1lwzO2GB

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons says, "cold start! Sun and clouds today with high temperatures in the upper 40s to mid-50s. Dry weather all day long! A quick rain shower or two tomorrow with high temperatures 55 to 60. I’m expecting windy and colder weather late Wednesday through Friday. We are also watching a close storm for the coming weekend!"
