Former Greenwich Parking Services Director Sues Town: Report

Rita Azrelyant was relieved of her duties last fall.

GREENWICH, CT — The former director of the Greenwich Department of Parking Services is suing the town over her termination, reports the Greenwich Free Press.

Rita Azrelyant was relieved of her duties last fall, but in her recently filed lawsuit in Stamford Superior Court, she claims she was unfairly fired after she complained of mismanagement and other problems in the department and town.

Among other claims, Azrelyant's lawsuit says she was thwarted in implementing the results of a 2014 audit that could have helped prevent certain abuses in the department. In 2017, a former town accounting clerk was arrested on larceny charges after he was accused of allegedly stealing more than $11,000 from the department.
