Gloria Belmont Hopper, of Greenwich, CT, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2018 surrounded by family during her final days.
Gloria was the owner and president of the Belmont Feed Company, the largest grain and feed company in Westchester and Fairfield counties founded by her father, Anthony R Belmont, in 1917. In addition to a successful business woman, Gloria was a devoted mother and wife whose passion for family and faith was always at the forefront.
Gloria Belmont Hopper is a Greenwich, CT native. Gloria and her family also enjoyed residency in Bernardsville, NJ, Naples, FL, and Danby, VT. Gloria was an active member in many organizations, including Burning Tree Country Club (CT), Manchester Country Club (VT), The Moorings Country Club (FL) and the Greenwich Women’s Club. As President of St. Agnes Church Women’s Guild she took pride in organizing the May Crowning of Blessed Mary and overseeing church Christmas decorations for several decades. Gloria hosted with great aplomb numerous functions for international organizations chaired by her husband, renowned food scientist, Dr. Paul F. Hopper Ph.D .

Gloria was lovingly called “Glory B” and “Rocks” by her family, references to her signature BMW license plate and her love of precious stones. Always the life of the party, she had a passion for singing and practical jokes, which she’d always encourage at family gatherings. When Gloria hosted family, a sumptuous gourmet Italian feast followed by an evening around the piano would be the norm.
Gloria is predeceased by her husband Paul, her parents Anthony and Philomena Belmont, and nine of her siblings. She is survived by her loving children; Maureen, Paul (Diana), and John Hopper of Greenwich, CT, and Mary Lynn Martin (Rob) of Darien, CT; grandchildren Jonathan, Allyson, Perry, Kathryn Hopper; Christopher, Timothy, Kimberly, and Kateri Martin; and sisters Lillian Costaregni (George) and Aurie Tupper.

Calling hours will be from 4 pm to 8 pm, Thursday February 15th at Gallagher’s Funeral Home,Greenwich followed by a private family service at St Agnes Church on February 16th. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Gloria's memory to the National Pancreas Foundation (pancreasfoundation.org) and Making Headway Foundation (Makingheadway.org).
