Greenwich Heroin Overdose Led to Man's Guilty Plea: U.S. Attorney

Officials began investigating after a fatal overdose in Greenwich.

GREENWICH, CT — A New York man pleaded guilty to drug charge following a fatal heroin overdose in Greenwich.

Isaiah Hart, 21, of Brooklyn pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, heroin.

Greenwich Police and other emergency responders went to a Greenwich residence on Dec. 8, 2015 on a report of an unresponsive man. The 26-year-old was pronounced dead. Within the residence officers located wax folds of heroin with the label "Emerald City," according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut Office.

The victim had contacted "Tony" on Craigslist under an advertisement for dog food. He drove from Greenwich to Brooklyn to purchase 20 bags of heroin from Hart for $185.

Hart was arrested on April 14, 2016. He had related drug charges pending for selling heroin to an undercover officer in December 2015.

Hart faces a maximum prison term of 20 years at sentencing.

The matter was prosecuted as part of an ongoing initiative to arrest and convict drug dealers after a fatal overdose occurs.
