Greenwich Hospital Holds Internal Medicine Residency Graduation

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Hospital recently celebrated the 48th annual Internal Medicine Residency Program graduating class and, for the first time, honored a nurse for her role in supporting the education of graduating physicians.
Greenwich Hospital President Diane Kelly called the graduates "future agents of change" and commended them for choosing a career in health care. Dr. Charles Seelig, program director, praised the graduates for their dedication.

This year’s six graduating residents were Dr. Kasandra Erazo; Dr. Umar Hasan; Dr. June Jeon; Dr. Caroline Pham; Dr. Zachary Retalis; and Dr. Tushaar Shrimanker.
The seven graduating interns were Dr. Idelle Aschen; Dr. Dina Moumin; Dr. Matthew Oleksak; Dr. Sean O’Rourke; Dr. Shailin Thomas; Dr. Gordon Wong; and Dr. Yue Helen Zhang. Dr. Richard Xia, the departing chief resident, was also recognized.

Several awards were presented during last week's ceremony:
- Dr. Alison Thompson received the Golden Apple Award (Teacher of the Year).
- Dr. Dewayne Lee Campbell II was presented the Resident Teacher of the Year Award.
- Angelica Arenas, RN, Intensive Care Unit, was honored with the Nursing Resident Partner-in-Care Award.
- Dr. Gerald Doherty received the Resident Physician Patient Experience Award.
- Erazo was presented the Resident Quality and Safety Award.
- Jeon received the Dr. Henry E. Markley Humanitarian Award in Medicine.
- Campbell and Wongwere presented the Dr. Nelson Bonheim Research Award in Medicine.
