
Helen Giammarino, a former nursery school teacher, passed away April 26. She was 91.
Born on Dec. 22, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Rocco and Maria Bria.
For 38 years she was a nursery school teacher and a nanny. She enjoyed knitting, especially Afghans. Helen loved taking trips to Mohegan Sun and will always be known as the fun crazy Aunt by her many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Giammarino is survived by a son Anthony (Shirley) Giammarino; daughters Carol (Anthony) Zagami, Bonnie (Mike) Conkey, and Debra (Don) Verboven; sisters Angie Parelli, Marie Palmer, and Barbara Parelli; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband Emil Giammarino, she was predeceased by a son Emil 'Butchie' Giammarino, Jr., a grandson Jason Conkey, brothers Joseph Bria and Rocco Bria, sisters Rose Martere and Theresa DeCarlo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 29, at St. Roch Church. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich.
Memorial contributions may be made in Helens memory to: St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
