Obituary: Jack Corcoran, National Guard Veteran; Met Life Retiree

Calling hours are scheduled for June 9; the funeral will be held June 10.


John A. 'Jack' Corcoran, a Met Life retiree, passed away peacefully at his Riverside home on June 6, 2013. He was 82.

Born June 23, 1930 in Dupont, PA, he was a son of the late Matthew and Victoria Corcoran.

Mr. Corcoran came to Greenwich as a young man and graduated from Greenwich High in 1948. He then went on to be student at Iona College. He also served in the CT National Guard and was stationed in Germany after World War II. He worked for 30 years with Met Life but his true passion was working in the antique business. Mr. Corcoran was the past Grand Knight of The Greenwich Knights of Columbus, which he was still very active in.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn M. Corcoran; their children Wendi A. Corcoran (Joyce), Shawn Corcoran Zimmerman (Stephen), and John Corcoran Jr. (Karen); grandchildren Dawn V. Zimmerman, Jennifer A. Zimmerman, John T. Corcoran, and Michael A. Corcoran, and great-granddaughter Lia Ryan Nastahowski.

John was pre deceased by his parents-in-laws Gemma and John V. Macarell and a grand child Ryan M. Zimmerman.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich, on from 3 to 7 p.m., Sunday, June 9.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 10, in St. Catherine Church in Riverside. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, North Street, Greenwich.
