Greenwich Police Department Adds 3 New Officers To The Ranks
The officers were slated to begin their academy training at the CT Police Academy in Meriden this week.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Police Department this week welcomed three new officers into the ranks.
Richard Delvecchio, Tessa Garcia, and Daniel Gillespie were sworn in on Oct. 1 by First Selectman and Police Commissioner Fred Camillo at a ceremony at the Greenwich Public Safety Complex.

The officers were slated to begin their academy training at the CT Police Academy in Meriden this week.
"After their six-month police training, they will provide Service, Respect, Courage, Fairness, and Diligence to the residents and visitors of the Town of Greenwich," the GPD said in a news release.

Delvecchio was born in Stamford and attended Greenwich Country Day School and Trinity Catholic High School, according to a news release from the GPD. Delvecchio graduated from Sacred Heart University in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
Garcia was born and raised in New York, and attended Sacred Heart University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in psychology and criminal justice, the GPD said.
An athlete from a young age, Officer Garcia played soccer, basketball, and softball, and in 2022, she was recognized as Sportswoman of the Year.
Garcia spent several years coaching her high school’s varsity soccer team, the GPD noted. She's also passionate about helping others, evidenced by her volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity since 2019.
Also a New York-native, Gillespie earned a bachelor's degree in Homeland Security from St. John’s University and then a master’s of professional studies in homeland security and criminal justice leadership.
From May 2023 through April 2024, Gillespie worked with the US Park Police, the GPD said. He attended the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, where he took their Uniformed Police Training Program and the US Park Police Agency Specific Basic Training.
Gillespie is also a volunteer with the Garden City Volunteer Fire Department, and was the recipient of the 2021 American Legion William Bradford Turner Post 265 Law and Order Award. He was recognized as the Garden City Volunteer Fire Department Firefighter of the Year in 2022, the GPD added.
