Greenwich Police Seek Help Solving 38-Year-Old 'Cold Case'

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Police Department is asking for the public's help in solving the 38-year-old "cold case" homicide of Carrie Lee Mock, whose body was found on Sherwood Avenue in Greenwich on July 19, 1981.

Mock, who was the mother of a 12-year-old girl at the time of her death, had gone missing from Stamford the day before on July 18. The autopsy revealed that she died from strangulation, and she had stab wounds to her neck.

"The case remains open and active today," Greenwich police officials wrote on the department's Facebook page. "Advances in investigative techniques and technology has improved the chances for cold cases, like Carrie Lee’s, to be solved. For these reasons the 38-year-old case continues to be investigated.

"Forensic science is not the only thing that may lead to the clue that solves these cases. Someone may have seen something or may have heard something. Even the smallest and most insignificant looking thing may lead to solving the case."
