GREENWICH, CT — Sgt. Brent Reeves retired from the Greenwich Police Department this month after nearly 30 years of service to the town, the GPD announced recently. He served as the department’s coordinator of domestic violence crimes and supervisor of the Special Victims Section.

Reeves joined the GPD in 1997 and became a sergeant in the patrol division in 2005, the GPD said.

"He quickly earned a reputation for compassion, sensitivity, and tenacity in handling domestic violence cases," the GPD said in an announcement. "He soon became the department’s go-to person to train officers on proper procedures for investigating one of the town’s most challenging and prevalent violent crimes."

In 2017, Reeves was named the supervisor of the Special Victims Section, a unit of specially trained women and men who investigate and work to prevent crimes by and against children and other vulnerable groups. Reeves also led the Department’s School Resource Officers.

"Sergeant Reeves’ work with juveniles, families, and community-based victims’ advocacy groups, such as the YWCA and the Department of Children and Families (DCF), has not gone unnoticed," the GPD said. "His efforts have resulted in numerous departmental commendations, service awards, and letters of appreciation, a testament to his dedication and impact on the community."

Since January of this year, the GPD said Reeves has served as interim director of security for Greenwich Public Schools.

"GPD is grateful to Sergeant Reeves for 27 years of service and a legacy of professionalism and dedication to duty," the department added. "We recognize that his success would not have been possible without the support of the entire Greenwich Police Department, and we applaud his decision to continue serving the town of Greenwich through the Greenwich Public Schools’ interim role."
