Greenwich Police Welcome New Recruit Into The Ranks

The new officer will now attend the Stamford Police Academy for training.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Police Department recently welcomed a new recruit into the ranks.

Niklas LaBorne, a 2014 graduate of Greenwich High School and later from UConn with a bachelor's degree in political science, was sworn-in during a ceremony at police headquarters.

Before joining the GPD, LaBorne was a per diem EMT with Greenwich EMS and a volunteer firefighter with the Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol (CCFP), according to the GPD.

As a member of the CCFP, he was recognized as "Patrolman of the Year" in 2018 and received the Cecil H. Gardner Memorial Distinguished Service Award.

LaBorne will now attend the Stamford Police Academy for training. After he returns later this year, the GPD said he will have 16 weeks of field training before he can work independently in town.
