Greenwich Rally for the 2015 Sandy Hook Ride on Washington Is Saturday

The rally being organized by the Greenwich Council Against Gun Violence is Saturday.

The Greenwich Council Against Gun Violence, The ENOUGH Campaign, Brady Campaign Southwestern CT Chapter will host the third annual Greenwich Rally for the 2015 Sandy Hook Ride on Washington on Saturday.

The rally, which is expected to draw local, state and federal officials, will be held on the steps of Greenwich Town Hall from 12:30 to 2 p.m. (In case of rain, the rally will be held in Town Hall.) Organizers say the rally is to show support of Team 26 — a group of riders including Newtown residents — that is undertaking its third annual ride covering 400 miles from Newtown to Washington D.C. with additional rallies along the route.

This year’s rally will continue the call for expanded federal gun safety laws, especially universal background checks. Participants will also demonstrate support for proposed Connecticut and federal laws aimed at reducing gun violence directed at women in domestic abuse situations, according to organizers.
