Greenwich Resident Named New Executive Director Of The Center For Sexual Assault Crisis

GREENWICH, CT — The Center for Sexual Assault Crisis Counseling and Education this month named Greenwich resident Quentin Ball as its new executive director, replacing Ivonne Zucco, who recently stepped down from the post after eight years.
Ball, whose previous position was Chief Strategy Officer at New Beginnings Family Academy in Bridgeport, has a decade and a half of experience in non-profits, marketing and pharmaceutical industries.
"I'm very excited and honored to be taking over at the organization," said Ball during a press conference at the Greenwich Police Station on Monday.

Zucco, who was instrumental in securing a recent $100,000 grant from Impact Fairfield County, said she is stepping down to take a break, but she plans to continue her work with women's causes in the near future.
Headquartered in Stamford, The Center for Sexual Assault Crisis Counseling and Education serves residents of Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Weston, Westport, and Wilton by providing "free, 24-hour confidential help to men, women and children who have experienced sexual assault."

Among its resources, The Center maintains a 24-hour bilingual hotline (203-329-2929), crisis counseling and age-appropriate educational programs to more than 17,000 Fairfield County school students risk reduction and other factors.
The Center also offers one-on-one counseling to victims of sexual assault and their loved ones. Additionally, the $100,000 will go toward training Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) at Greenwich, Stamford and Norwalk hospitals. SANE staffers are trained in working directly with victims of sexual crimes when they come into a hospital.
Greenwich Police Det. Christy Girard and Sgt. Brent Reeves, both of the department's Special Victims Section, both stress that the services offered by The Center are essential to residents in lower Fairfield County.
"I'd like for people to know that they don't have to be afraid to come forward in these situations," said Reeves.
