Greenwich Superintendent Won't Seek Contract Renewal
Superintendent William McKersie informed the Board of Education he wouldn't seek renewal of his contract.

GREENWICH, CT- Superintendent William McKersie announced he wouldn't seek renewal of his contract that expires in June 2017.
He said that he has loved leading Greenwich Public Schools.
"It is time for me to seek other professional opportunities," he said. "I am confident that my years in Greenwich have made a difference for all students.”

McKersie has been superintendent since July 2012.
“In addition to bringing stability to the District during his four-year tenure, Dr. McKersie has applied his distinctive expertise in strategic planning to fostering educational excellence and opportunity for all students and maximizing relationships with administrators, parents and the community," said Board of Education Vice Chair Barbara O'Neill.

The school district developed a strategic plan under McKersie. Digital learning is implemented on a 1:1 basis. It also outperformed peer districts in the 2015 Smarter Balanced Assessment.
McKersie also helped advance the discussion of school start times which is still in the process of being debated.
