Greenwich Woman Accused Of Assaulting Elderly Person: Police

Police said a 59-year-old Greenwich woman was arrested on Jan. 24 on the western side of town.

GREENWICH, CT — A 59-year-old Greenwich woman was arrested on Jan. 24 after police said she assaulted an elderly person with a deadly weapon. The person, who is over the age of 60 and also a Greenwich resident, sustained serious injuries, police noted.

Cynthia Ferenz was charged with assault of an elderly person and disorderly conduct, according to her arrest report. She was being held on a $1 million bond and had a scheduled court date on Jan. 25.

The incident occurred on the western side of town around 1 a.m., on Jan. 24, Lt. Patrick Smyth of the Greenwich Police Department said.

Smyth could not provide more details on the victim or what led to the assault, citing the early nature of the investigation.

According to the CT Judicial Branch website, Ferenz is next scheduled to appear in court on March 28.
