Hans Friedrich Werner Moeller, 85; Retired Executive, Greenwich Resident

Hans Friedrich Werner Moeller, 85, passed away on April 22, 2015 at his home in Greenwich, Connecticut.

He was born on July 22, 1929 in Delmenhorst, Germany to Christoph and Agnes Moeller.

Hans started working for Schott Glaswerke in the export department in Mainz, Gemany in 1956. In 1961, he became Schott’s first representative in the United States and in 1963 established Schott’s first sales subsidiary in North America becoming Schott America’s Vice President and Secretary. In 1967 he became Executive Vice President and Vice President of Sales for Schott Glass Technologies besides his other responsibilities for Schott America. In 1989, Hans was named President of Schott Corporation, the Schott Group’s holding company and headquarters in North America, a position he held until his retirement in 1994.

In 1968 he became an American citizen. He attended Harvard Business School.

Hans married Ingeborg Krimmert in 1956 in Mainz, Germany. Before moving to America, they spent several years living and working in Spain, France and Germany. Together, they travelled the world for business opportunities and to explore new places and cultures. They were happily married for 58 years.

Hans was predeceased by his sisters, Mudi Schoenenborn and her husband Helmut, and Margarete Raem and her husband Caspar.

Hans is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Ingeborg, His daughter Doris Dumoulin and her husband Frank of Southport, CT and their children Sebastian, Oliver, Isabelle and Gabriel; his son, Pierre and his wife Heide of Warwick, NY and their children Thorsten and Tilo; his sisters Christa Wiecker and her husband Hermann of Germany and Elsa and her husband Klaus Maskow of Delmonhorst, Germany and brother Jonny and his wife Elfriede, of Bockhorn, Germany.

A service will be held in Hans’ honor on Sunday April 26, 2015 at 2pm at the St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 761 King Street, Rye Brook, NY At the corner of King Street and Comly Avenue.
