Herbert R. Lowden, 89; Interstate Septic Tank Co. President; Greenwich Native, Antique Car Aficionado

Herbert Rowland Lowden passed away on May 18, 2015 at the age of 89.

He was born in Greenwich in 1925 to Obediah Lowden and Anna Livingston Lowden.

He grew up in town and served his country in the U.S. Navy in WWII aboard an LST in the Pacific Operation.

He married Lillian F. Munoz of Armonk, NY in 1947 and eventually settled in Glenville. There he raised a family and along with his wife built a business; Interstate Septic Tank Company, of which he was President. A devoted family man he worked tirelessly to build a life for his family.

Over the years Herbert stayed in touch with his shipmates from WWII and attended several reunions as a member of the LST association.

One of Herbert’s passions was antique cars and when he wasn’t working he was restoring a car in his spare time or attending classic car meets and competitions. He was a member of the New England Packard Club and the National Packard Association.

Herbert is survived by his beloved daughters, Lisa Lowden Larsen of Port St. Lucie, FL and Kimberley Lowden of Stamford, CT, his dear sister Dorothy Keller of Danbury, CT, his grandchildren Rebecca and Ryan Mullins and many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Lillian F. Lowden and his dear brother Arthur H. Lowden.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at Castiglione Funeral Home, 544 Old Post Road #3, Greenwich, CT. The funeral service and internment will be held on Friday at 11AM at Putnam Cemetery in Greenwich, CT.
