Hurricane Florence Will Impact CT After All: Here's When, How

The remnants of Hurricane Florence are now expected to potentially have significant impacts to CT. Here's the potential timeline.

Rewrite. It had appeared that Connecticut would see zero impacts from Hurricane Florence and that is no longer the case. Florence will not move up the coast and hit us directly, but the remnants from this powerful storm will now impact us. Several inches of rain are now expected Tuesday as the track of the storm continues to shift.

Hurricane Florence made landfall as a Category 1 storm this morning in North Carolina and will continue to drop dozens of inches of rain in the South before the remnants move north. Before Florence's remnants impact us next week, the weekend should be dry, seasonal and even feature some sun, and that is good news because we haven't seen the sun since last week in Connecticut.

NBC CT Meteorologist Darren Sweeney wrote in a lengthy social media post that "While we're focused on the Southeast, many messages are coming in asking "what about us here in the northeast." At this point, it looks like Florence is going to meander for a couple of days across the SE (dumping historic rain) but there are now signals that the remnants will eventually get sucked up along a front that will come through here on Tuesday.
At this time (and it is subject to change as the immediate track is not set in stone) It looks like we'll see a round a heavy rain and even some breezy conditions by Tuesday.

"The map below show the potential track. This is the best case scenario for us. It will travel over land and lose the winds but the rain will be impressive. 2-4" of rain is not out of the question. Subject to change, as usually the case with tropical forecasts." (To sign up for free, local breaking news alerts from more than 100 Connecticut communities, click here.)
