Jacqueline 'Jackie' Sullivan, 83; Greenwich Resident Who Was a Decades-Long Volunteer with Abilis

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 21 with the funeral scheduled for Monday, June 22.

Jacqueline (Jackie) Sullivan of Greenwich, CT died June 15, 2015 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx.

Born in Flushing, NY, daughter of Ralph and Elizabeth, she graduated Bayside High School and attended Walter Henry Junior College before graduating from Hunter College with a B.A. in Education.

She married Cornelius (Neal) Sullivan of South Ozone Park, NY who went on to become an executive with the IBM World Trade Corporation.

She was a Kindergarten teacher at the Dutch Lane School in Hicksville, NY until they began having children. Neal was transferred to Uruguay, where the family lived for 3 ½ years and the twins were born. They moved to Greenwich in 1969, where her mother was born in 1898. Neal passed away in 1987 as Assistant Treasurer of IBM World Trade.

Jackie was very active in the community. She was a decades-long volunteer of Greenwich Abilis, serving on the Education and Nominating committees and chairing many annual dinners. She co-chaired Special Olympics events, and a Saint Catherine’s Card Party that raised money for newly released female prisoners. Jackie was Vice President of the Milbrook Homeowners Association, organized numerous cookie drives for the Girl Scouts, and developed a series of parent forums.

Jackie will be dearly missed by her seven children, Catherine, Neal, Mary, Tim, Maureen, Patty, and Ethan, and by her six grandchildren, Abigail, Nicholas, Michael, Jonathon, Taylor and Chase.

Visitation will take place at Leo Gallagher and Sons located at 31 Arch St., Greenwich, on Sunday, June 21, from 4pm to 8pm. A mass will take place on Monday, June 22, at 9:30 am at St. Catherine’s of Siena located at 4 Riverside Ave., Riverside.
