GREENWICH, CT — After nearly 17 years with the Greenwich Police Department and 40 years in law enforcement overall, Robert Ferretti, a shooting range technician, will retire.

Ferretti has spent most of his policing career as a firearms instructor, first with the Port Chester Police Department and, since 2013, at the GPD’s range on Steamboat Road, according to an announcement from the department.

"By any measure, he has trained hundreds of GPD officers on the proper use and handling of firearms and, more importantly, de-escalation techniques aimed at making deadly force a last resort," the GPD said. "He has also taught many in the community valuable lessons about gun safety through his instruction at the Citizen’s Police Academy, a biennial program that gives Greenwich residents a first-hand overview of police operations."
