Man Charged In Connection With 2023 Apartment Break-In: Greenwich PD

Police said they arrested a 29-year-old man on July 16

GREENWICH, CT — A 29-year-old man was arrested on July 16 and charged in connection with an apartment break-in that occurred in November 2023, according to Greenwich police.

An arrest warrant charged Carlos Builtrago-Pinzon, of Queens, N.Y., with second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief and conspiracy, his arrest report states.

Builtrago-Pinzon was in the custody of the Darien Police Department on an unrelated matter when he was arrested at Stamford Superior Court, police said. His arrest warrant came with a $100,000 bond.

On Nov. 11, 2023 at 4 p.m., the Greenwich Police Department responded to a call that someone had forcibly entered a residence on Beech Street in the Byram section of town, Lt. Patrick Smyth said.

"Upon arrival initial investigation determined that an unknown suspect had forcibly pried open the reporting party's apartment door as well as the apartment across the hall," Smyth said.

Nothing was taken from the reporting party's apartment, and the other apartment had been empty for about a month, Smyth noted.

"The investigators were able to identify a suspect and after a thorough investigation applied for and obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect," Smyth said.

Builtrago-Pinzon appeared in court on July 16, and remains in custody, according to the CT Judicial Branch website.
