GREENWICH, CT — A 26-year-old Louisiana man was extradited on Oct. 25 from Las Vegas, Nev., back to Greenwich where he was formally charged in connection with a robbery that occurred on Mason Street this past summer, police said.

Lamoine Ward, of Laplace, La., was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and conspiracy, according to his arrest report. Ward was unable to post a $1.5 million bond.

Police said that Ward and his accomplice, Kristen McKenzie, 24, of Metairie, La., tried to steal several items from a retail store on Mason Street on the afternoon of June 25.

McKenzie was confronted by store employees outside of the store, and Ward then used the SUV he was driving to hit one of the employees, police said.

"After striking the employee, he pointed a firearm at the employee while he lay on the ground," police said. The two were then able to drive off.

On Aug. 1, Ward, who had been arrested by the Las Vegas Metro Police Department several days prior on unrelated charges, was served with the warrant held by the Greenwich Police Department.

After his other charges in Nevada were settled, Ward was extradited to Connecticut.

On Sept. 9, McKenzie responded to Greenwich Police Headquarters on an active arrest warrant that charged her with first-degree robbery, fourth-degree larceny and fourth-degree conspiracy, police said. She was given a $1.5 million bond.

Ward is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 8.
