Margot S. Handal, 91; World Traveler, Master Bridge Player


Margot S. Handal, died in her sleep at home, surrounded by family, on Dec. 3, 2013. She was 91.

Born in El Salvador, Nov. 14, 1922, Margot came to the United States shortly before World War II. She married Joseph S. Handal on Dec. 7, 1940.

She lived in Greenwich for almost 30 years prior to moving to Edgehill in Stamford in 2011. Mrs. Handal was a creative woman highly skilled in jewelry making and the art of French beaded flowers. A world traveler, she literally circled the globe several times. An dedicated bridge player, Mrs. Handal achieved the rarefied Gold Life Master status from the American Contract Bridge League.

She is survived by three sons, Richard, Donald and Gary; five granddaughters and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by sons Roger and James. 

Arrangements were handled by Bosak Funeral Home & Cremation, 453 Shippan Ave., in Stamford.
