Marie P. Sorrentino: Remembered for Her Devotion to Family and Friends

The Old Greenwich resident passed away Oct. 5 at the age of 89.

Marie P. Sorrentino of Old Greenwich died Monday, Oct. 5, in The Nathaniel Witherell home in Greenwich. She was 89. Mrs. Sorrentino died after a brief illness.

Born July 15, 1926 in Norwalk to the late Antonio and Antoinette Fusaro Audino, she moved with her family to Stamford and grew up on the West Side.

After marrying Joseph C. Sorrentino in 1948, the couple moved in 1955 to Old Greenwich, to the home she lived in and loved until her death. Mrs. Sorrentino attended Stamford High School and worked at The Hat Corporation of America and Conde Nast, among other local institutions. She also helped out her father at times in the composing room at The (Stamford) Advocate.

Mrs. Sorrentino will be remembered and deeply missed for her unfailing devotion and generosity to her family and friends.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, her son Joseph Sorrentino Jr., her brother Anthony Audino and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to charity in her name. Among Mrs. Sorrentino’s favorite charities were the Veterans of Foreign Wars, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
