Meredith Davidson Avery, 86; Riverside Resident Who Was a Greenwich Health Department Retiree

Meredith Davidson Avery, 86, of Riverside, CT passed away peacefully on June 8, 2015.
She was born in New Rochelle, NY on September 3, 1928.

Meredith graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion in 1950. Her first job was with Burson-Marstellar in New York City. Later she worked for the Town of Greenwich Public Health Service Dept. until she retired in the mid-1990s.
Meredith was a member of PEO, an international philanthropic organization which supports Berea College in Appalachia. She was also an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford for over 60 years.

Meredith enjoyed traveling in the US and Europe, and her fondest memories were spending summers on Lake George, a family tradition that continues to this day. She took special joy from her 4 grandchildren.
Meredith is survived by her son, Hal Avery and his wife Karin and their children Gwendolyn and Geoff, as well as her 2 daughters, Martha Avery Bates and her husband Tom and their children Sarah and Emily, and Elizabeth Hill Avery and her husband Alex Bullock. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Robert M. Davidson and his wife Kristin as well as her sister Margaret D. Zone and her husband Robert.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Stamford on Saturday, June 20 at 11 am.
