No Timetable Yet To Reopen Byram Shubert Library
The library's first floor was flooded over the weekend because of a malfunctioning sprinkler system, according to library officials.
GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Library is currently working with electrical vendors to complete repairs at Byram Shubert Library, which was flooded over the weekend because of a malfunctioning sprinkler system.
There's currently no timetable for the building to reopen, but the hope is "soon," according to the library.
The first floor of the library was flooded on Oct. 15.

"The sprinklers were inadvertently triggered while the building was closed due to a mechanical issue. Carpeting in sections of the first level were soaked but the water was successfully extracted by our facilities team and vendors," said Greenwich Library Director Barbara Ormerod-Glynn. "More significantly, water entered into electrical conduits through floor outlets. This damaged some of our electrical wiring which is why the branch had to close."
After electrical repairs are complete, the library must undergo an inspection by the town of Greenwich, Ormerod-Glynn said.
