Obit: Rev. Richard Beattie, 88, of Old Greenwich

Rev. Richard Sherman Beattie, 88, of Old Greenwich died Sunday April 2, 2017 at home. Born in Paris France on May 27, 1928. Rev. Beattie was the son of the late Ernest Boardman Beattie and Dorothy Sherman Beattie.

A member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants, Rev. Beattie was a graduate of Trinity College in 1949 and General Theological Seminary in 1952. Rev. Bettie was an Episcopal Minister for many years serving in New York and Stamford, CT , Rev. Beattie is survived by his wife Joan McAlevey Beattie, a son Richard Beattie, daughter-in-law Margot Gibson-Beattie , a daughter Elizabeth Caroe, granddaughter Ashleigh Wilson, great granddaughter Nayvee Wilson. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday April 29, 2017 beginning at 3 p.m. at Christ Church, 254 East Putnam Ave. Greenwich, CT Memorial contributions may be made to Gallaudet University.
