From Castiglione Funeral Home
Helen M. Forlano, 77, of Greenwich, died peacefully at Calvary Hospice Hospital on July 24, 2013 after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. She was a long time resident of Greenwich and a devoted mother, grandmother and friend.
Born in Port Chester, NY on May 28, 1936, Helen was the daughter of the late Salvatore Sileo and Ann Doran Sileo.
She is survived by her two children, Shanna Forlano and Steven Forlano, granddaughter Raven Forlano, sister Beatrice Ceruzzi and brother, Peter Sileo.
She was the widow of Henry F. Forlano, whom she married May 11, 1957.
She graduated from Port Chester High School. Helen worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Partridge and Rockwell. After retirement she enjoyed volunteering at the Greenwich Hospital Ambulatory department. Helen also devoted many hours to mentoring young students at Lebanon Elementary School. But, her favorite past time was spending time with her granddaughter Raven, going to the movies, the beach and having sleepovers together.
Our heartfelt thanks goes out to the Oncology staff at Greenwich Hospital for their caring and compassion towards our mother and her family during the last two weeks of her life, as well as the staff of Calvary Hospice Hospital for making her last days as comfortable and peaceful as possible. A special thank you to her family and friends as well, for their outpouring of love and support.
