Old Greenwich Rail Bridge Project Reduces Available Commuter Parking

The bridge replacement project will take three years to complete.

For commuters using the parking lot at the Old Greenwich train station there will be fewer parking spaces available now that work has begun on the rail bridge replacement project.

The Greenwich Parking Services Department announced Monday that the work will include relocating utilities under the South Beach Avenue bridge. As a result, parking spaces may be inaccessible at various locations at the Old Greenwich Railroad Station.

There will be one shift in available parking starting Tuesday, with a second shift in available spaces beginning Sunday, May 10. (Please see accompanying maps for the details.)

The work on the $14.875 million project to replace the Metro-North Railroad bridges spanning both Sound Beach Avenue and Tomac Avenue, officially began on Monday. The project will take three years to complete and will involve lane closures and detours at both Old Greenwich locations.

The exact number of spaces affected will change as work crews perform the work and move equipment.
