📰 News we're reading
1. Significant Site Disturbance Proposed for Backcountry Project (greenwichfreepress.com) — A major redevelopment is proposed for 86 Howard Road in backcountry Greenwich, where the 1966 home would be demolished and replaced with a new seven-bedroom house, pool, pool house, tennis court, and expanded driveway. Plans before Greenwich Planning & Zoning call for clearing about 2.78 of the site's 5.34 acres of trees and shrubs and adding 0.40 acres of new impervious surface, after the property sold in June for just over $3 million.

2. Up to the Minute Greenwich Property Transfers, July 30-31, 2026 (greenwichfreepress.com) — If you're tracking Greenwich's real estate market, here's a fresh snapshot of who bought and sold homes across town on July 30–31, from East Putnam Avenue condos to high-end backcountry and Old Greenwich properties. All figures come straight from the assessor's office at Greenwich Town Hall.

3. Connecticut roadside cameras look alike. What they record is very different (greenwichtime.com) — Connecticut is rapidly expanding roadside speed and red-light cameras, but state law tightly limits what they can record and how long data can be kept, unlike broad-use license plate readers. Vendors, including Blue Line Solutions, which supplies Greenwich's speed cameras, say their systems only create records when a clear violation occurs. The piece breaks down new privacy protections, data-sharing limits, and the steps towns must take before issuing tickets.

Meet Fitness Trainer Meghan Hayden (hollywoodlife.com) — A new celebrity romance has a Greenwich connection: fitness trainer and former Division I soccer player Meghan Hayden, originally from Greenwich, is dating baseball great Alex Rodriguez. The story highlights her athletic background, training business, and brand partnerships, while tracing how their relationship emerged after his previous long-term partnership ended.
