Beginning May 4, work will begin on the $14.875 million project to replace the Metro-North Railroad bridges spanning both Sound Beach Avenue and Tomac Avenue — a project that will take three years to complete. Replacement of the two bridges — which has been on the drawing boards for several year — will involve lane closures and detours.

The project will include the complete replacement of both bridge superstructures, including abutment modifications, and expansion of the two existing commuter parking lots located at the Old Greenwich Railroad Station. Also included is construction of a retaining wall to facilitate the parking lot expansion, drainage systems upgrades, modifications and improvements to the commuter railroad station platforms and installation of new, improved access stairways.
