Police Investigate Burglary of 2 Greenwich Homes

Police say that in one incident, "The owners were awakened by the sound of breaking glass."

Two homes were burglarized over the weekend, including one in central Greenwich where the residents were awakened by the sound of breaking glass, according to police.

A Saw Mill Lane home was ransacked sometime Saturday after burglars broke through a wooden back door of the home, according to police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray. The burglars were unsuccessful in trying to break in through a second-floor balcony door, Gray said.

The owners were away and discovered their home had been ransacked when they returned on Sunday. Detectives were at the scene on Monday and compiling a list of items taken from the residence.

It was about 5:20 a.m. Sunday when residents of a West Brother Drive home in the private Milbrook neighborhood in central Greenwich were awakened by the sound of glass breaking, according to Gray.

When the residents called out, they heard a voice but whoever entered the home escaped as the residents dialed 9-1-1. “The subject was gone when police arrived moments later,” Gray said. Nothing was reported missing from the home.
