Police: Pair Caught with Heroin, Cocaine Near Greenwich School

More than 60 bags of heroin and cocaine were confiscated by Greenwich Police who arrested a man and woman on numerous drug related charges.

Police said the pair was arrested early Monday evening after members of the department’s Narcotics Section conducted a surveillance operation on Alexander Street in the Chickahominy neighborhood in the western side of town.

Police said Ashley N. Cabrero, 30, of 54 Alexander St., Greenwich, was arrested after police observed a drug transaction between her and Nimrod Romero, of 37 Columbia St. in Thornwood, NY.

Cabrero “was in possession of a combination of heroin and Schedule II and Ill prescriptions pills which were packaged for sale,” police said in a statement.

“Romero was found to be in possession of 60 bags of heroin. Romero was also in possession of two small bags of cocaine,” police said.

Cabrero was charged with two counts of Possession of Narcotics, and one count each of Possession of Narcotics with Intent To Sell, Possession of Narcotics Within 1,500 feet of a School, Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell Within 1,500 feet of a School and Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was released on a promise to appear March 25 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Romero was charged with Possession of Narcotics, Possession of Narcotics with Intent To Sell, Possession of Narcotics Within 1,500 feet of a School, Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell Within 1,500 feet of a School, : Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Sell Under 1 Ounce, Possession of Cocaine Within 1,500 feet of a School, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Sell Within 1,500 feet of a School.

Romero pleaded not guilty to the charges in state Superior Court in Stamford and is being held in lieu of $150,000 bond, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website.

Alexander Street is a block away from the Hamilton Avenue School.
