RHCC Welcomes New Minister, The Rev. Dr. Edward Horstmann

Round Hill Community Church is pleased to announce the arrival of our newly appointed Senior Minister, the Rev. Dr. Edward G. Horstmann, who will begin his ministry with us on Sunday, June 2. Please join us for a special service that day at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Horstmann’s sermon will be Take, Bless, Break, Give. The music will feature traditional Spirituals with guest soloists Michele Ivey, soprano and David Glukh, trumpet as well as our choir and the Round Hill Quartet. Dr. Horstmann, who grew up in Bennington, Vermont, has spent the last fourteen years as the Senior Pastor at Immanuel Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, in Hartford. Prior to that, he spent twelve years as the Pastor at First Congregational Church in Hopkinton, New Hampshire. His education includes an S.T.M. and M.Div. from Union Theological Seminary, D.Min. from Andover Newton Theological School, and B.A. from Union College. He currently serves on the boards of Hartford Seminary, where he also has been an adjunct professor, and the South Marshall Interfaith Coalition in Hartford He has said that the practice of ministry is always about pointing the way for a local congregation to become fascinated by the promise Jesus made to his disciples that “greater things than I have done shall you do.” He believes that preaching and worship that engage the imagination, the heart, and the mind fuel this fascination. At the same time, he thinks that as we endeavor to live with faith, hope, and love we should laugh and take ourselves lightly, be kind to one another, pause for prayer when our lives have run off track, and savor the beauty of creation. Of his life work, Dr. Horstmann says, “I love the ministry. I love the opportunity to think and dream and plan and act with people of faith toward a vision of enhancing life locally and globally.” Round Hill Community Church is an independent, interdenominational Christian church that welcomes all. Sunday worship and Church School are at 10:00 a.m.: Childcare is available. The Church is located at 395 Round Hill Road in Greenwich, CT.
