Richard Cornelius Farrell: Greenwich Native; Dedicated Stay-at-Home Dad

He died Sept. 15 after suffering a stroke.

Richard Cornelius Farrell, 51, passed away peacefully in a coma from a stroke on September 15, 2015 at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City.

He was born on July 22, 1964 to Alvira Chemidlin and William H. Farrell at Greenwich Hospital.

He graduated from North Mianus School, Catholic Middle School and St. Mary High School in Greenwich. He received his Associate’s Degree in communication from Dean Junior College in Massachusetts. Ricky was active in the Cub and Boy Scouts of America and as an Altar Server for many years at St. Agnes Church. He worked in the sports department at Bloomingdale’s in New York City and loved being a professional caddy at golf courses in the Metropolitan area and in Florida.

Ricky will be remembered the most as a dedicated stay-at-home Dad to his three younger children. He enjoyed taking them to the many city museums and to the parks and pool along the Hudson River. They all love New York City.

Besides his parents, Ricky is survived by his wife, Ayten Kolasinli Farrell, his four children, Ryan Richard, Richard Amir, Evren William and Ayla Emma. Also his siblings, William Jr. (Wendi), Thomas (Maureen Johnston), Robert (Carol), Cathy Sullivan (Thomas) Marybeth Farrell, And Susan Morrison (Matthew). He leaves behind 15 Nieces and Nephews, 19 Aunts and Uncles and 45 First Cousins.

Viewing will be at the Fred D. Knapp and Son Funeral Home, 267 Greenwich Ave. Greenwich, on Monday evening, September 21, from 5PM-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday September 22, at 10AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 178 Greenwich Ave. Greenwich, CT. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, 399 North St. Greenwich, CT.
