Mike was an avid volunteer in numerous church, civic and charitable organizations for many years. He served as an usher at the St. Catherine of Siena 9 a.m. Sunday Mass for more than 60 years; 50 plus years with the Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol; a most active member of the Retired Men’s Association (RMA); a Red Baron escorting patients and serving the coffee cart at Greenwich Hospital, Meals on Wheels, Cos Cob Republican Club, Republican Town Committee, the Harpoon Club, the Melody Men, Glenville Seniors, Social Seniors, the American Legion and the veterans of WW II CBI group.

The most important thing in Mike’s life was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed golf and he loved to sing. In fact, any chance he had, he would grab a microphone and sing his renditions of “Hello Dolly”, “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” and “The Wind Beneath My Wings”.

Mike leaves behind his beloved wife of 66 years, Adele “Apples”; sons, Jeff and his wife Cindy, Bob, and Rick and his wife Flavia; grandchildren Dave Harris and his wife Kelly, Chris Harris and his fiancée Liz McCarty, Megan, Katie, Lorisa and Izzy Harris; and great-grandchildren James Harper Harris and Kai Cecilia Kerbel.
