2 Storms Forecast For CT: Here's When And What To Expect
Connecticut's odd winter weather continues as we move toward the end of January. Here are the latest details on two upcoming storm systems.
CONNECTICUT — Two more storms are on the horizon for Connecticut and once again it looks like we won't see any accumulating snow.
The first storm is forecast for Thursday evening and Friday and the second storm targets Sunday and Monday. Both storms may feature some snowflakes or mixed precipitation initially but temperatures should be warm enough to support mainly rain, forecasters say.
"Snow lovers won’t be too happy with this forecast! Our chances look slim at least through the weekend to get some snow around here," wrote WFSB 3 TV Meteorologists Mike Slifer with Scot Haney.

"The next storm system we are watching closely should bring rain from Thursday into Friday," the WFSB 3 TV forecasters said. "Precipitation may start off as a mix and end as a mix, but it’s going to be very borderline for Connecticut. The highest risk for any mixing would be in the hills, and rain will quickly overtake any wintry mix as warmer air surges in."
"The rain continues overnight into Friday, with a few snow showers or mixed showers to wrap up this entire storm....Any accumulation would be pretty insignificant, and mostly across the northernmost high elevations (i.e., along the MA border and above 1,000 feet). We pick up about a half inch of rain from this storm, give or take."

And more "unsettled weather" is forecast to begin Sunday evening. "There could be enough cold air trapped for some wintry mix at the beginning of this storm, but again...warmer air will overtake the whole state, pushing temperatures above freezing and flipping everything over to rain," the WFSB 3 TV weather forecasters said.
