Samuel Volpe, 97; Greenwich Resident, Pitney Bowes Retiree
Calling hours are scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 7 with a funeral Mass to be held Friday, Aug. 8.

Samuel Volpe passed on Aug. 4, 2014 in Greenwich.
Samuel was born on July 23, 1917 in Stamford, to Thomas and Angelina Volpe.

He went to school and played on the basketball team with the Sacred Heart Visitations. He was also an avid baseball player. Samuel joined the Army and was a Corporal in charge of Army supplies during WWII.
He married Betty Giallanza in 1945. They had one daughter Angelina. Betty predeceased him on Dec. 8, 1989.

Samuel worked for Pitney Bowes as an assembler for 42 years. Samuel retired to Lantana, FL for 26 years before returning to Greenwich in 2008.
He is survived by his sister, Tomasina; his daughter Angelina Socci (Tony), and grandchildren Elizabeth and Tony Socci Jr. (Jenn) and great-grandson Gabriel.
He was predeceased by his brothers Dominic, Anthony, Gene and sister Mary.
Visitation will be at Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave, Greenwich, on Thursday, Aug. 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8 at Sacred Heart Church in Byram.
