CT Weather: Rain and Storms Continue But The Weekend Is Great

There are new changes to the weather forecast over the next several days. Here are the latest updates.

There is good news and bad news concerning Connecticut's weather forecast for the remainder of the week. First, the good news is that this coming weekend is forecast to be beautiful with sunshine and temps around 80 degrees for both Saturday and Sunday.

And the bad news is, before we get to the weekend rain and thunderstorms and gloomy skies will now dominate through Thursday before the weather improves considerably on Friday. But as we know, we're very fortunate that the powerful Hurricane Florence, which is a category four storm, will likely have minimal to no impacts for us. Unfortunately for the Carolinas, the hurricane is expected to make landfall on Thursday and could produce more than 20 inches of rain there and hurricane force winds.

The National Weather Service says, "Cloudy and rainy conditions persist into today as a warm front slowly moves through the area. An isolated rumble of thunder will be possible as well. With ample cloud cover and a cool onshore flow, temperatures will remain below climatological normals in the mid to upper 70s.

Fog then develops again tonight, with humidity steadily increasing as the warm front moves to our north. Chances of showers and thunderstorms persist into Wednesday as a cold front quickly follows and stalls across the area. Additionally, high surf and a risk of rip currents will continue into late week as the area receives swells ahead of hurricane Florence."

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said "Dreary and cool with some fog and drizzle this morning. Some brightening midday but also the risk of a passing shower today. High temperatures mostly in the 70s with a few spots around 80°. The humidity going up today and staying that way through Thursday with the scattered shower threat. Drying out brighter skies Friday into the weekend." (Keep up with CT events and news by subscribing to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)
