Social Media Post Related To Greenwich High School Prompts Investigation: Police
Police said the social media post, which was discovered Tuesday night, "caused grave concern amongst the community."

GREENWICH, CT — An anonymous social media post that claimed a group of Greenwich High School students may be in possession of a gun was discovered Tuesday night, and it prompted an investigation by the Greenwich Police Department, police said Wednesday morning.
"This posting caused grave concern amongst the community," Greenwich police Capt. John Slusarz said. "An investigation by the police department was immediately conducted and it was deemed that the allegation was not true. Currently, there is no threat to the Greenwich High School or the community."
Slusarz said the police department and Greenwich Board of Education take these complaints "very seriously."

"In the event of a threat to any of our schools, students, or staff the police department should be contacted directly and immediately," Slusarz said.
Greenwich Public Schools spokesperson Jonathan Supranowitz said the district became aware of the Facebook post Tuesday night.

"We were in contact with that person last night and this morning and made them aware that we thoroughly investigated the allegations and discovered them to be unfounded, absent of any facts," Supranowitz said in a statement to Patch.
"We will be reminding all students and families at Greenwich High School that the proper and responsible way to report any issues to school officials is to utilize 'Anonymous Alerts' on the school’s website, notifying a school administrator directly, or contacting our partners at the Greenwich Police Department."
