State K-9 Unit Helped Find Missing Greenwich Woman: Police

The woman was found in a wooded area and taken to an area hospital for evaluation, Greenwich Police said in an announcement.

GREENWICH, CT — A 94-year-old Greenwich woman who was reported missing earlier this week was found by the Connecticut State Police K-9 unit in a wooded area in the northern King Street corridor on Tuesday, according to an announcement from the Greenwich Police Department.

The woman was taken to Westchester Medical Center for evaluation, and she was reunited with her family, police said. It was unclear Wednesday what the woman's condition was.

The GPD requested assistance from the CSP K-9 unit in searching for the woman, who was reported missing on May 19. She was last seen on May 18 at her home in the Glenville area around 5:30 p.m.

A command post was set up at the woman's home, and multiple ground searches were conducted as Greenwich Police launched a drone, police said.

Flyers were distributed physically and on social media, according to police, and numerous tips were received from the public and followed up on.

Four K-9 searches from different dogs were affected by higher than normal winds, police said, but on the fifth search at approximately 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, A Trooper and his K-9 partner located the woman.

The Trooper alerted GPD officers who responded, rendered medical aid, and called an ambulance, police said.

In an announcement Wednesday, Greenwich Police Chief James Heavey thanked the public and the agencies involved in the search.
