Sylvester P. Larkin Jr., 90; Greenwich Resident, Indian Harbor Yacht Club Member

Sylvester P. Larkin Jr., died on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014 at the age of 90.

He was born in Pelham Manor, NY on Dec. 30, 1923, the son of the late Shirley and Sylvester Larkin of Greenwich.

He attended Greenwich Country Day school and graduated from The Gunnery School in Washington, CT.

Mr. Larkin served in the U.S. Marine Corps 3rd Marine Division for 2 ½ years in the South Pacific participating in campaigns in the Solomon Islands, New Georgia, Bougainville and Guam.

He worked at Bates Fabrics for 10 years in sales and at Milliken & Co. for 32 years where he retired as a Director of Marketing.

Mr. Larkin was a former member of the Greenwich Country Club, the Belle Haven Club and was a present member of the Indian Harbor Yacht Club.

He is survived by his wife Margaret; his three children, Paton and his wife Victoria, his two daughters, Van O’Linda Larkin Ruttley and her husband Allan and Gay Larkin Coe and her husband JT. He also is survived by five grandchildren, Tyler and Kendall Larkin, and Taylor, Katherine and Manning Coe.

A private burial will be held by the family and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
