CT Weather: Record Heat Continues, Storms Possible Wednesday

The upcoming weekend forecast may pose some weather challenges too.

Monday's weather forecast is Tuesday's weather forecast. Connecticut remains under a Heat Advisory and an Air Quality alert as the heat index will be in excess of 100 degrees in parts of the state today. It appears thunderstorms will be in the forecast Wednesday afternoon, which will result in temps being a bit cooler on Thursday and Friday, but there won't be a major cool down.

The upcoming weekend also looks unsettled too as thunderstorms are possible on both Saturday and Sunday. Temps are forecast to be in the mid 80s this weekend.

An Air Quality Action Day means that Ground Level Ozone within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards.


In Northern Connecticut, the weather service says:

..HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* HEAT INDEX VALUES...afternoon highs in the middle 90s will result in heat index values between 97 and 102 degrees.

* TIMING...into early this evening.

* IMPACTS...The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.

AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 11 PM EDT TUESDAY

The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Air Quality Action Day for Ground Level Ozone, in effect from 11 AM to 11 PM EDT Tuesday.

An Air Quality Action day means that Ground Level Ozone concentrations within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards.


Storms on Wednesday?

The National Weather Service says, "Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening.... A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after noon. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.
