Tobacco Compliance Checks Conducted In Greenwich, Police Say

The checks were conducted on Sept. 10, police said.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Police Department's Community Impact Section, in conjunction with the Greenwich Together Prevention Council, conducted unannounced tobacco compliance checks at 17 establishments in town on Sept. 10.

"The inspections were performed in an effort to determine compliance with state laws concerning the prohibition of the sale of e-cigarettes and/or tobacco products to youth under the age of twenty-one," police said in a news release.

Retailers are required by state law to inspect the photo ID of anyone who appears under the age of 30 before selling tobacco products or electronic cigarettes, police said.

Police found zero violations out of 17 compliance checks, the department noted.
