Tree Removal To Cause Lane Closures In Greenwich: DOT

A tree removal operation along the Merritt Parkway in Greenwich is expected to cause lane closures, DOT officials say.

GREENWICH, CT — Travelers can expect lane closures between Exit 27 and 31 on the Merritt Parkway as work continues on a tree removal operation, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

The DOT announced Friday that work is scheduled to be performed on both the northbound and southbound sides of the highway through Friday, Aug. 9. The project consists of cutting dead trees, high limbing and clearing signs, according to the announcement.

The work will be performed by Distinctive Gardens and Tree Care, LLC. A movable sign pattern will be used to guide travelers through the work zone.

During the project's regular work schedule, northbound lane closures will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and southbound lane closures will occur between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

"Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions," DOT officials said in the announcement. "Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity."
