Tree Removal Causes Lane Closures On Merritt Parkway In Greenwich

Connecticut Department of Transportation officials released new details on how long the work will continue for and where.

GREENWICH, CT — State crews will continue to remove trees along both sides of the Merritt Parkway in Greenwich through Friday, Aug. 16, which will necessitate lane closures at times. The project consists of "cutting dead trees, high limbing and clearing signs," according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

DOT officials said drivers can expect lane closures between exits 27 and 31 on Route 15 northbound in Greenwich. A moveable sign pattern will be utilized to guide travelers through the work zone.

The work will be performed by Distinctive Gardens and Tree Care, LLC.

Here is the regular work schedule for this project:

  • Northbound lane closures between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Southbound lane closures between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

"Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions," DOT officials said in a statement. "Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity."
