GREENWICH, CT — Just days after announcing eight recent vehicle thefts in town, police said Monday two more vehicles were stolen in Greenwich this weekend.

According to Lt. Mark Zuccerella, a Lexus was reported stolen from Pleasant Street on Saturday. While it is unclear if the vehicle was unlocked, as there were no signs of a break-in, the lieutenant said the owner of the vehicle reported having lost a seat of keys to the vehicle. Additionally, items were reported stolen from vehicles parked on Perkins Road, Fado Lane, Cat Rock Road and Shannon Lane between Aug. 20 and 23, Zuccerella said.

"We have seen an increase in daytime larcenies from unlocked motor vehicles in the parking lots north of Putnam Avenue," Zuccerella said in an email. "If you are visiting the area, such as a private club, please remember to lock your vehicles and hide any valuables in the trunk."

In one instance, keys were left inside unlocked vehicles while the owners were out of town, he said.

"We really need people to take their keys and lock their car doors," Zuccerella said to Patch.

He also noted that, while most of the vehicles stolen in Greenwich have been recovered, they are usually stolen to commit other crimes, either in town or in other communities.
