Bumgardner Receives Democratic Endorsement In House 41st District
Aundré Bumgardner, a Groton Town councilor and former state representative, has received the Democratic endorsement for the district.

GROTON, CT — Aundré Bumgardner, a Groton Town councilor and former state representative, has received the Democratic endorsement for the 41st State House District. The district includes Groton and Stonington.
Bumgardner was supported unanimously at the convention at Groton Town Library Wednesday evening.
State Rep. Joe De La Cruz, who currently represents the district and is not seeking re-election, said in a statement: "I'm sad to be leaving the legislature, but I am absolutely excited to know that Aundré will continue to support and respond to our communities, which is very much needed right now.

"It's important that folks know that the direction of the state depends on putting the right people in the right positions and there is a lot of work to do. I know Aundre will do the necessary work."
Baumgardner said that his platform includes lowering taxes for working families, strengthening coastal resiliency, and investing in schools.

Bumgardner was re-elected to a third term to the Groton Town Council in 2021. He chairs the town council’s personnel and appointments committee and has served as liaison to Southeastern CT Transit Authority, Southeastern CT Resource Recovery Authority, and the Groton Trails Coordinating Task Force. He has also served on the City of Groton Planning & Zoning Commission since 2017.
Bumgardner was elected as state representative for the 41st District in 2014. During his time in the State House, Bumgardner served on the Finance Revenue & Bonding Committee, Transportation Committee, and Education Committee. He is the youngest person ever to be elected to the state legislature at the age of 20, according to a statement.
