Groton Baby Abuse Leads to State Child-Protection Worker Suspensions, Investigations
A child abuse case has resulted in investigations and suspensions for a number of child-protections workers.

GROTON, CT – A child abuse case has resulted in the suspension of two state child-protection workers, as well as two others being internally investigated, the Hartford Courant reported.
The investigation has arisen from a foster-care placement in which an 18-month old baby’s aunt was charged with abusing the child, the Hartford Courant reported. Crystal Magee, 32, was arrested and the child was immediately removed from the house and hospitalized.
Relatives noticed that the baby had burn marks, broken bones and was malnourished, according to the Hartford Courant. The Department of Child and Families allegedly failed to make note of these issues, despite a mandate to carefully monitor and assess such homes and situations.
